Park Road Community Primary School has hit Gold after a year of encouraging pupils to become more involved in sports and PE.

The school has been awarded the Gold School Games Mark, which is part of a Government-led award scheme facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school.

As part of the application, the school was asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs.

Teacher Kathryn Mills said: “Over the year, Miss Mills and Miss Shirley have been working hard collating evidence for the School Games Mark criteria. Due to the children's engagement within PE, our wonderful Sports Crew's work and attendance in our extra-curriculum offer we have been awarded the Gold award.

“Thank you to all the staff and children for their commitment to inclusion, competition  and sports this year!”
